Morzine is positioned, between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, close to the French-Swiss border. This is one of the prettiest regions in the world. The towering mountain peaks, perpetually topped with snow even in summer, serene lakes, old villages, wild clean rivers, gorges and pine forests make the region an ideal winter or summer holiday area.

Its position close to Geneva means that the apartment is only an hour away from Geneva airport making the Portes du Soleil the nearest major ski area to an international airport. Regular flights into Geneva from many UK airports are catered for by Easyjet, BMI Baby, Swiss Air and numerous other airlines. Easyjet now fly into Geneva from Belfast , Bristol, Liverpool, London-Gatwick, London-Luton, Newcastle and Nottingham (East Midland). Car hire is available from the airport or airport to apartment transfers can be arranged. There is also a regular bus service between the airport and Morzine.

It takes approximately 8 hours to drive to Morzine from any of the Channel ports and about the same if you are driving from Amsterdam so it can easily be done in a day or on an overnight trip. The French motorway system takes you to within 30 km of the town making the journey swift and easy.

While the cost of the shorter voyages may be advantageous we have found that the Newcastle to Amsterdam route  is easier if traveling from the North of England as it cuts out what can be a very unpleasant motorway journey through heavy UK traffic. Psychologically the effect of getting on an overnight ferry also helps to give the feeling of the holiday having started.

The apartment is situated next to the Nyon cable car at the Eastern end of the town. Its position next to the cable car gives you direct access to the Nyon and Chamossiere ski areas from where you can ski down to Les Gets and Mont Chery or directly into Morzine. Alternatively the ski bus stops outside the apartment giving direct access to Morzine or Avorias and hence to the rest of the Portes du Soleil.

It takes between 15 and 20 minutes to walk into the center of Morzine from the apartment or you can take the ski bus which stops outside the apartment or use one of the many Taxis. The apartment has its own parking space but the cable car car park is less than 20 yards away from the from entrance.

At the bottom of the ski slope 40 meters from the apartment is the river Drance which gives the apartment the perpetual sound of running water.

Indeed the “Cascade De Nyon” one of the regions many beauty spots and the center of many of the activities in the area such as the adventure park, canyoning and the bungee jump is less than 500 meters away.
